Weekly Theme Update Feb. 6-10, 2012

This weeks theme is “Inside Outside.. Upside Down” all about opposites. We will cover several opposites involving science experiments, taste testing, tent building and as always music and art. Opposites are a big part of our world and are important in building language. If you have books or items supporting this theme please share.

Things to do @ home:

Play the Opposite Game when the children on the playground.

Ask them, “Where’s the top of the slide? Where’s the bottom?” “Who is running fast? Who is walking slow?” “What is the tallest object on the playground?” (It might be a tree!) “What is shortest object on the playground? (It might be a blade of grass!)

Read Books about Opposites

Weekly Theme Update Jan. 30-Feb. 3, 2012

Had a Super Fun Week! Be sure and ask you child about the parade today.

Ok so our next theme is Under the Big Top, a circus experience. Games and crafts along with dress up, clowns and animals will be a big part of our week. Colors and counting are woven in too. We’ll end the week with our version of an actual carnival. We’re stting up a photo booth, complete with props. Please email if you’d like me to send you the pics. I’m looking for top hats if you have any to share. It’ll be the GREATEST WEEK ON EARTH!!

Our annual Chinese New Year celebration is next week. We’ll explore Chinese culture, foods, crafts, and phrases. Friday is the parade (weather permitting). The color for the week is red. If you have anything to share relating to this celebration, please do!

Weekly Theme Update Jan. 16-20, 2012

Thank you for welcoming me back! I enjoyed the time off bonding with Ms. Fin. I wanted to say thank you for all the baby and Christmas goodies. I appreciate them all! I am ready to get back to my little friends. Wow they have grown so much in such a short time!

Our next theme is Bears. We’ll learn about eating and sleeping habits, how they stay warm, what they like to do, different species, colors and famous bears over the years. Friday we’ll have a slumber party, so come to school in your pjs AND bring your favorite teddy bear. woo hoo!

Weekly theme update 1/4/12

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

The next few weeks we will be learning about Winter weather and artic animals.

House Keeping:

The newsletter is a little late this month. I am working on securing all the dates and times for holiday closings and parties for 2012, so you can plan ahead and save the dates. It should be out to you by Friday of this week, along with the year end tax statements, which will be in your diaper bag or file box.

 We welcome Ms Raquel and baby Finley back next week so you can look forward to her weekly updates.

We will be closed 1/16/12 to observe Martin Luther King Day.

Weekly Theme Update 11/22/11-12/23/11

We are in holiday mode! Bring em on!!

The next few weeks we will be learning and sharing many different holiday traditions, songs, games, art and sensory experiences. If you have any special family traditions, easy recipes or hidden talents you wish to share, please feel free!

If the weather takes a turn and we happen to get snowed in remember we have severl ways to communicate this news, 11 Alive, text message, our website and our phone 404-897-1936 which will have a message advising when we will be open, this is very unlikely, but it is sooo cold I thought I’d give us all a reminder.

Weekly Theme Update 11/21/11

Another week flew past…

Next week will be talking about manners, to help prepare the children for Thanksgiving. We wish you all a happy and safe holiday, enjoy your  family, friends and traditions. We will be closed 11/24 & 11/25.

For those of  you that didn’t hear, Raquel delivered baby Finley 11/17/11, she is such a little sweetie and both mommy and baby are doing fine. Here we go again!

Weekly Theme Update 11/14/11

Hey everyone

We are moving along with caring and sharing, all building up to the big deal, Thanksgiving!!! (We will be closed 11/24/ & 11/25,  just a reminder). The Atlanta Community Food bank barrel is in the Butterfly room and will remain here until 11/23/11. Speaking of sharing, I’d like to share the news that Ms Raquel will be out on maternity leave starting next Thursday 11/17/11. She will return in January with Finley. While she is away, we will have extra hands on deck to fill her shoes including; Ms Anniza, Kurt (Robert’s son inlaw) Robert and Deborah too, man she must do a lot! I have a few special requests, first  if you have any questions, concerns or comments  get them to me by e mail ( info@kidskondo.com) and second please try very hard to be here by 6:00pm as the days will be very long until she returns.

Stay warm this weekend, enjoy the time with the little ones!

Weekly Theme Update Nov 7-11, 2011

It’s Friday!! Welcome to the weekend;)

Today’s Stone Soup story and next weeks Native Americans & Pilgrims will lead to Sharing is Caring and What are you thankful for, with the focus  on giving. This is character building and self esteem boosting. We will have our Food Bank barrel in the office for donated non perishable items. This will give extra opportunity for a hands on experience for our friends to share with others.

Weekly Theme Update Oct. 31-Nov.4, 2011

Happy Halloween Weekend Ya’ll

We have enjoyed another great week here @ the Kondo! Next weeks theme is Healthy Foods. We’ll talk about the benefits of eating healthy and do some taste testing. . We are reading Stone Soup and trying out our cooking skills. Please bring in one of the ingredients for an activity by Thursday night. The ingredients are listed below. This is for the Butterfly room only… we’ll share!

Ingredients: 5 of each works:  celery, carrot, red potato, zucchini, squash, 1 can of chicken broth and 1 can of corn.
