This week we will be celebrating Week of the Young Child. This is a nationally recognized week. Please take time to notice all of the quotes around the school. As I wrote them and hung them on the wall I was inspired by them. I hope you will be too! We will celebrate this by playing games and enjoying the perfect weather!
NAEYC first established the Week of the Young Child in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children’s success in school and later life. The Week of the Young Child is a time to plan how we–as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation–will better meet the needs of all young children and their families.

Tabhair póg dom, táim Éireannach!!
(TOO-irr pogue dum, toyme AY-ron-ock)
which means.. Kiss me I’m Irish!
OK so it’s March peoples… this year is flying by! Here @ the Kondo we celebrate a different kind of March Madness… everything turns green from inside out. This week we’ll explore Irish folklore, colors, and foods, mmm. If you would like to bring in an Irish dish or music, get with your teacher. We’ll be taste testing corn beef/cabbage on Friday morning, wish us luck;)
FYI
There will be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown Saturday March 13th @ noon. Starting on Ralph Mcgill @ Peachtree. Hope to see you there.
I wanted to take a minute to share the domains of development when implementing this themed curriculum. We use these when planning activities.
Cognitive, which is thought process, problem solving, decision making.
Social/Emotional is self awareness/autonomy.
Language/Literacy is reading/communication/letter recognition.
Physical, which is using gross motor skills. (sounds funny, i know)
We also encourage independence and self help skills. If you have any questions pertaining to this please see me or Jo.
May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

Due to inclement weather we are moving the time of the valentine party to 11:30. We are asking that parents pick children up by 3:00, so we can all make it home safely. Happy Valentines !!!
